Radio-Canada.ca: Babikov...un Canadien en Or!

Le fondeur d'X-C.com, Ivan Babikov, a remporter sa quatrième victoire aux championnats Canadien mercredi, cette fois-ci, dans le 15km style libre.  Malgré avoir déjà gagner aux championnats Canadien, cette dernière victoire lui restera toujours spéciale, et non pour la grosse neige qu'il a dut combattre; elle était sa première comme citoyen canadien!

Vancouver Sun Article: Russian finally comes in from the cold with medal as Canadian
X-C.com's Ivan Babikov took his 4th Canadian Championship medal on Wednesday, pushing his way through 15 kilometres of heavy, wet snow to claim victory in the skating event.  Despite having won before, this latest victory will remain 'special' for one reason...This is his first Championship title as a Canadian Citizen!

2008 Nationals: Babikov and Stephen Win Battle Against Heavy Snow Conditions
Day 3 of competition was overshadowed once again by wild weather making for difficult racing conditions.  However, unlike yesterday's waxing challenge, today's skating events proved much easier for club wax technicians.

2008 Nationals: Kuhn and Randall Win Wax Wars!
It was a wax technicians nightmare today as 'volatile' conditions prevailed for the classic style event at the 2008 Canadian Championships in Callaghan Valley, BC.  In the end, it was a 'no-wax' ski that took the win, and many of the podium finishes over the technicians' best klister/wax combinations!

National Championships Team Sprints: Photo Gallery
The 2008 Canadian Championships kicked off today with the Team (club) Sprint event at the 2010 Olympic Nordic Venue in Callaghan Valley, BC.  The mild weather and late day snow flurries made for some tricky waxing conditions on the 1.0km sprint course.

Ultra Ski Marathons: What is Left?


What do you do with your hard earned fitness now that the big races are over?  Have you ever wondered how far you could ski?  March might be the time to find out.  This spring there are a variety of events providing the opportunity to celebrate the completion of the major races and also push ourselves in ways that typically don’t mesh with mid season training.

Brooke's Blog - Alberta Cup - Tawatina and Athabasca

This weekend I traveled with the Foothills Ski Club (as an assistant helper to the Youth Racing Group) to the Alberta cups in Northern Alberta. By Northern Alberta I mean 5 hours North or Calgary. We stayed in Westlock, home of the world record harvest!
