X-C.com Training Plan: Boxing Week Burn-Off
X-C.com Training Plan:  Boxing Week Burn-Off

The holidays can be a very stressful time of the year for most of us.  The family obligations, the meal preparations, the last-minute gift shopping, cleaning the house in time for mom/pop to visit, etc…Either way, the chances (if any) of ‘escaping’ for a ski are often limited and if you actually do get a break in the week’s agenda, then you’re either too tired or too full!

For this week’s training plan, make a point of doing something everyday, even if it’s only for short walk/run, or an hour long cruise with the family.  If you’ve got the time off work, get out there and focus on long slow distance while you’ve got a few hours to spare.

How To…Prepare For The Ski Marathon (Loppet) Season

For this first edition of the ‘How To’ Series, I thought I would give you a quick rundown on how to prepare for the ski marathon season.  We’ve all seen the stereo-typical articles in running/outdoor magazines on how you can run your next marathon in under 3hrs.  Well, skiing isn’t that easy.  There are many factors that come into play that can (and often will) affect your performance on snow.  If we leave the weather and snow conditions out of the picture, things like the equipment you are using, the wax you select or even the type and amount of food you eat can become factors in your performance.  If you can understand and be aware of these factors, you will be one step further ahead to meeting your objectives.
